Ranch to host snowshoe series and snowbike race
Catamount Ranch & Club will be hosting a Steamboat Snowshoe Series on Saturday. There will be a 1K family and kids walk/run, and 5K and 10K competitive races. There also will be a snowbike race at 1 p.m. Registration for the day of will begin at Catamount Nordic Center at 8 a.m., with events starting at 10 a.m. The cost is $20 for adults and $10 for children. Snow drawings organizers seek volunteers from area
“We are the Water” is a series of free community events celebrating the Legacy Education Fund and place-based education in the Yampa Valley. Events in Library Hall at the Bud Werner Memorial Library include:
■ An evening with the director of The Nature Conservancy Yampa River Program Geoff Blakeslee along with author and environmental scientist Wendy Pabich today.
■ An interpretive workshop with Hinrichsen, “We Are the Water: How to Behave Like a Drop of Water Flowing into the Yampa,” on Friday.
The celebration culminates with a place-based snow drawing Saturday at Lake Catamount. The community is invited to join Hinrichsen in creating a large, landscape-scale work of art that will highlight local watersheds.
