Steamboat briefs: Board seeking members for multi-modal issues

Anyone interested in county road multi-modal issues is invited to apply to join the Routt County Multi-Modal Board, which reviews issues and provides information to the Board of County Commissioners. The two-year terms for five members are expiring, and the county is taking applications to fill the seats. Available seats are: seat No. 6, North Routt citizen; seat No. 7, West Routt citizen; seat No. 8, South Routt citizen; seat No. 9, pedestrian/running; and seat No. 10, bicycle Company. Those who are interested should submit a short letter of interest to Janet at jhruby@co.routt.co.us by Jan. 31.

Kristen Lodge hosting a book reading on Sunday

Author and one-time Steamboat Springs resident Kristen Lodge will host a book reading at 5 p.m. Sunday at Colorado Mountain College’s Alpine Campus’ library. She will read from her new book “Continental Quotient,” which describes Lodge’s experiences exploring the outdoors and hiking, skiing and biking in little towns across the United States. The event is free and open to the public. The library is located on the third floor of Bristol Hall.

High school seniors can apply for Young scholarship

Graduating high school seniors can now apply for the J. Robert Young annually renewable scholarships, which are offered to graduates in locations served by Alpine Bank.

Students meeting the criteria of the scholarship may receive an application through their high-school counselor, online at www.wc-cf.org, online at www.alpinebank.com or by visiting any Alpine Bank location.

The scholarship will be awarded on the basis of financial need to a student with a grade point average of 2.75 or higher who is seeking a business-related degree. Students must attend a Colorado college. Applications must be postmarked or emailed to the Western Colorado Community Foundation on or before March 15.
