Soroco girls tally another win Monday

Joel Reichenberger

The Soroco High School girls basketball team relied on hot shooting to roll to another win, beating Longmont Christian on the road Monday night, 52-47.

The Rams, 7-3, opened up the game fast, getting 3-pointers from Hayley Johnson, Jessica Rossi, DaKota Bruner and Jacey Schlegel all in the first half. They led, 28-20, at the break and managed to hold on through the second half.

“They had a couple good, solid players, but we shot the ball well and we were able to get the win,” Soroco coach David Bruner said. “Our legs were a little tired from this weekend.”

The Rams don’t have much time to be tired. They play again Wednesday night against league foe Vail Christian.

“We have to work on our defense,” Bruner said. “We have some adjustments to make, so that’s something we’ll really focus on.”

Soroco plays at home on Wednesday with a modified schedule. The boys varsity team plays at 6 p.m. and the girls varsity plays at 7:30 p.m.
