Steamboat Springs A Jeep commercial shot in and around Steamboat Springs was shown during the weekend’s football games and will continue to run throughout the X Games this upcoming weekend.
The shoot took place in mid-December with only a few weeks notice, according to Steamboat Springs Chamber Resort Association public relations manager Nikki Inglis.
The low snowpack in the Sierra Nevada mountains is contributing to production companies looking to Colorado for projects involving snow, Inglis said.
“With the collaboration of the Chamber, the city, the county, the U.S. Forest Service, the Steamboat Springs Film Committee, local location scouts and other film industry professionals, Jeep shot two commercials to run during the X Games featuring the Jeep Wrangler and the Jeep Cherokee,” Inglis wrote in an email. “They filmed at locations including Catamount Ranch & Club’s Heritage Cabin, Steamboat Snowmobile Tours on Rabbit Ears Pass, Flying Diamond Ranch, as well as in a city neighborhood.”
Inglis said the crew of about 60 people made an economic impact on Steamboat through lodging, permits, catering and other local services.
Also recently, Al Jazeera America was in Steamboat Springs to report and film a feature about the Steamboat Springs Winter Sports Club.
“We’re excited to use this experience as more productions look to Steamboat for their location needs,” Inglis wrote about the Jeep shoot. “We’re proud to be able to share the beauty of our valley with the world through all types of media, and it’s a delight to see the finished product.”
