Steamboat Springs The drunken man who police said got lost, broke into a building, pulled a fire alarm and caused damage has pleaded guilty to misdemeanor second-degree trespassing.
William T. Cook, 22, of Oklahoma, was sentenced to one year of unsupervised probation and fines and costs. The Routt County District Attorney's Office also has 30 days to ask Cook to pay for the damage caused during the early Tuesday morning incident.
A Steamboat Springs Police Department officer found a fire alarm was going off at The West condominiums in the 2100 block of Mount Werner Circle. He then saw a man in the lobby, whom he later would identify as Cook.
Cook told the officer he had been outside for four hours looking for his condo in Ski Time Square, and he activated the fire alarm to get help. Two doors also were damaged.
In addition to second-degree trespassing, Cook originally was arrested on suspicion of felony criminal mischief.
