Parks and Wildlife invites public to Ski and Skate
Colorado Parks and Wildlife invites the public to Yampa River State Park’s 8th annual Ski and Skate at 2 p.m. Saturday at the park’s visitors center at 6185 West U.S. Highway 40.
Participants can pick between a cross-country trek on the groomed ski trails, an afternoon of ice skating on the park’s pond or both.
The ski trail will be lit up at night once the sun sets, and people can enjoy some winter fun by the light of the moon and the light of neon-colored glow sticks. After the activities, there will be a campfire along with free hot chocolate and hot dogs provided by Yampa River State Park.
In addition, the Craig Chamber Ambassadors will hold their annual Chili Cook-off at the park beginning at 4:30 p.m. For more information about the cook-off, call Shannon at the Craig Chamber of Commerce at 970-824-5689.

Meditation teacher to talk about essential technique
Nationally recognized meditation teacher Tim Olmsted will present the essential meditation technique at 7 p.m. Tuesday at Bud Werner Memorial Library. The technique is the subject of recent scientific research on meditation and the brain and is at the heart of most contemplative traditions.
This workshop would be relevant to new and experienced students of any spiritual tradition.

Reveal of ‘Flow’ sculpture scheduled for 5 p.m. Friday
The Panebaker family, along with Sandy Graves, Friends of the Yampa, the Yampa Valley Community Foundation (Alan Panebaker Memorial Endowment) and the Vermont Law School, will host an unveiling of “Flow,” a sculpture to honor Alan Panebaker, at 5 p.m. Friday at Bud Werner Memorial Library.
“Flow” will be available for viewing until 9 p.m. Friday. After its unveiling, it will be exhibited at Sandy Graves Studio in Steamboat before its shipment to Vermont for permanent exhibition at Vermont Law School in South Royalton. The Alan Panebaker Memorial Endowment also will be making a donation to the Friends of the Yampa.
