— Sailors head girls basketball coach Mack Spitellie hopes Tuesday night’s road win against Summit County will inspire his team as they head into the final five games of the season

“It was a good win, a win that we needed,” he said. “This is a key part of our season, and we need to find a way to win in the next five games.”

On Tuesday, the Sailors improved the team’s record to 8-7 with a 45-27 win against Summit County. The win comes with a pair of key home games at 5:30 p.m. Friday against Palisade and at 2:30 p.m. Saturday against Delta.

Steamboat’s Maggie Crouch and Annie Osbourne led the way against Summit County, each scoring 13 points, and Maddie Robertson added seven more in the victory. Robertson, Crouch and Ashley Spitellie led Steamboat in rebounding.

The girls are scheduled to wrap up the regular season with contests against Summit on Tuesday, Battle Mountain on Feb. 13 and Eagle Valley on Feb. 15.
