An open house will be held from noon to 2 p.m. Saturday at the newly remodeled South Routt Medical Clinic in Oak Creek. Tours of the clinic at 300 Main St. will be offered, and there will be free root beer floats and door prizes.
Mainstreet Steamboat seeks volunteers for chili event
Mainstreet Steamboat Springs is looking for a few more volunteers to work a two-hour shift at the Chuck Wagon Chili Challenge, which will be held from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Sunday at Seventh and Yampa streets. Event organizers need chili judges, beer and beverage tenders and tasting kit sellers. Each volunteer can taste all the chili he or she can eat. Shifts will run from 10:45 a.m. to 1 p.m. and 1 to 3:15 p.m. Help with cleanup also is needed. To volunteer, call Tracy at 970-846-1800 or email her at email@example.com. Alcohol responsibility class held by Grand Futures on Wednesday
Grand Futures Prevention Coalition is hosting its alcohol responsibility training class from 1 to 3:30 p.m. Wednesday at the Steamboat Springs Community Center. This class is an accepted certification for alcohol responsibility training for servers, distributors and sellers of alcoholic beverages in Colorado. Grand Futures is a nonprofit, and fees collected from this class go directly to programs and activities that promote healthy lifestyles for youths. The cost of the class is $35. Steamboat Lake, Stagecoach parks keeping beaches open
Labor Day weekend marks the end of the swimming season at many Colorado state parks, but at Steamboat Lake State Park and Stagecoach State Park, the beaches will remain open a little longer.
Steamboat Lake State Park’s beach will close Oct. 1, and the last day to swim at Stagecoach State Park will be Sept. 8.
There is no fee to enjoy the parks’ swim beaches, but a valid parks pass is required on every vehicle that enters the parks. There are no lifeguards on duty and swimming is at your own risk.
The parks remain open year round and offer plenty of other activities, such as camping, hiking and fishing. For more information, visit http://cpw.state.co.us. Swim beaches will begin to reopen for next season at the end of May.
Colorado Workforce Center offers winter virtual job fair
The Colorado Workforce Center in Steamboat Springs will offer a winter virtual job fair. The hiring event will be hosted by www.connectingcolorado.com and will offer 24-hour access, chat rooms, online applications, resume and interviewing workshops and more. Routt County Riders hosts trail workday on Saturday
Routt County Riders will lead a trail workday on the Sunshine Trail on Mount Werner from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday. Volunteers are invited to assist with the trail re-routing project and should meet at the Knoll Parking Lot on Mount Werner Circle at 8:45 a.m. for transportation to the work area. Workers can bring their bikes and ride down after the trail work session.
Tools will be provided; volunteers should wear sturdy shoes and bring work gloves, backpacks, sunscreen, rain gear, caps and water. After the work session, volunteers can enjoy a snack from Honey Stinger, lunch donated by a local restaurant and beverages donated by New Belgium Brewing Co. at approximately 1 p.m. Register at www.routtcountyriders.org/volunteer to ensure there are enough refreshments.
