— Jennifer Kerr's resume just got even more impressive.

The physical therapist at Yampa Valley Medical Center's SportsMed recently was designated as a board-certified clinical specialist in sports physical therapy.

To get that designation, she had to complete 2,000 hours in sports physical therapy and pass a rigorous eight-hour test.

“There were a lot of people here helping me,” Kerr said Friday. “Going through this whole process helped me as a physical therapist.”

The yearlong certification process makes her one of only 38 specialists in Colorado.

Kerr said the amount of research she had to do to get the certification made it a beneficial learning experience.

As a physical therapist, Kerr has traveled with the U.S. Ski Team and specializes in orthopedics, orthotics and performance enhancement.

“It's getting people back to play,” she said.
