Steamboat briefs: Ski Town USA Golf Classic planning gets underway

Organizers of the 17th annual Ski Town USA Golf Classic and Benefit Auction, Steamboat Springs’ only golf tournament that features two courses, have announced this year’s event will be held June 20 and 21 at Rollingstone Ranch Golf Club and Haymaker Golf Course.

Contacts are being made with the businesses and individuals who have sponsored the event in the past. The generosity of sponsors has helped the Rotary Club of Steamboat Springs and the Ski Town Rotary Club raise more than $1 million for local charities since the event’s inception.

The event will kick off with a reception and registration June 19. Golfers will tee off at Rollingstone and Haymaker the next morning for the two-day tournament. The event is capped at 200 participants; reservations can be made online at www.skitownclassic.com or by calling 970-879-5605.

The highlight for golfers, their guests and the Steamboat Springs community is the Benefit Auction on Friday night. This event always draws capacity crowds, including a large number of non-golfing locals, who bid on a wide variety of spectacular live and silent auction packages.

“Our success depends on the strong support of our business sponsors, the generosity of our many friends who donate exciting auction items, and the folks who come to our gala benefit auction and take advantage of the wonderful opportunity to purchase one-of-a-kind items, and contribute to these great causes,” said John Kerst, Ski Town Golf Classic chairman.
