— A dog and its owner were not injured after being involved in a crash Thursday morning in South Routt County.

Yampa Fire Protection District Capt. Ralph Bracegirdle said emergency responders were called to the crash at about 8:30 a.m. on Colorado Highway 131 just south of Phippsburg.

Firefighters found a pickup that had gone off the road and was resting on its side in an irrigation ditch. The woman driving the truck got out on her own, but a dog was stuck and laying on the passenger side window.

Firefighters Scott Delto and Rob Anderson climbed a ladder to reach the truck and climbed over to the door. Once the dog calmed down, Delto was able to reach into the truck to rescue the dog.
