Soroco football rolls on the road vs. Plateau Valley

— On Saturday, Soroco did what it needed, picking up a 53-6 win against Plateau Valley. On Friday, Hayden did what it needed, picking up a 48-6 win against Rocky Mountain Lutheran.

Next up is Hayden-Soroco on Friday, and as far as high school football goes in this area, it doesn’t get much better than that.

It’s made for Friday night under the lights.

“This is the reason we coach as coaches,” Soroco head man David Bruner said. “You don’t coach for those 50-0 games.”

Certainly not.

But on Saturday, Soroco found itself in another laugher. The list of touchdowns read like a roll call.

Matt Regan had a pair of interceptions returned for touchdowns. Ian Palyo, Storm Veilleux and a host of Rams added touchdowns.

But the question remains. How good is Soroco? Last year, the team lost 49-7 to Hayden after much fanfare.

Bruner, though, likes his team. He also likes rivalry games like this between a pair of similar communities, similar towns and similar programs.

“This is going to be a fun one to be at,” he said. “It’s going to be a good high school Friday night game to be at.”
