Hayden volleyball on 3-game win streak

— Nearing two weeks into the season, the Hayden High School volleyball team seems to be hitting its stride.

It took the Tigers five games to take down North Park on the road, but in doing so, Hayden pushed itself to a three-match win streak.

Hayden (4-2) won the opening game, 25-22, but found itself down after North Park stole the next two. Tigers head coach Christene Planansky said it was simply a breakdown in communication.

“We struggled in Game 2 and 3 because we stopped talking to each other,” Planansky wrote in a text message. “Before Game 4, I asked them in the huddle if they are finished or are they going to fight for these last two games?”

The Tigers responded.

Junior Jordan Temple and senior Becca Hoza rallied Hayden to 25-15 and 15-6 wins to close out the match. Hoza led all Hayden players with 14 points.

Planansky said freshman Jessika Hockett closed out North Park with three aces in her final five serves.

Hayden next takes the court Thursday in a home match against Vail Christian.
