Classes resumed Monday at The Lowell Whiteman School near Steamboat Springs after the campus was evacuated Friday in response to a threatening email reportedly from a 2005 graduate of the school.
Lowell Whiteman Chief Financial Officer Jay Readinger said some of the school’s boarders and off-campus students went home for the weekend after the evacuation. As the students returned, the school held a parents meeting separate from a students meeting Sunday evening to make sure “they are all on the same page,” Readinger said.
Representatives from Steamboat Mental Health and other psychological wellness programs were on hand for assistance during Sunday’s meeting. Psychological professionals also were present during the weekend at the Bud Werner Memorial Library for students and parents to consult with if they chose to do so.
Next week is parents week at The Lowell Whiteman School, Readinger said, so this week’s schedule may be altered to accommodate those activities.
