The town hired a search firm to identify candidates.

The candidates include Mark Berkley, who has been the officer in charge since Gordon Booco was fired for undisclosed reasons in July. Berkley has worked in law enforcement for nine years. Before coming to Hayden, Berkley worked in Fort Morgan, Lochbuie and Summit County.

Candidate Robert Glenny is the executive sergeant at the Ferguson Township Police Department in Pennsylvania, and he has been in law enforcement for 25 years. He has served numerous roles, including patrol officer, training officer, patrol sergeant and traffic enforcement coordinator.
