Jaime Winter and Claire Tegl, ice hockey

2010 graduates of Steamboat Springs High School, seniors at Colorado State University

Winter and Tegl again are members of the Colorado State University women’s ice hockey team. Under a new head coach, the Rams won their first game of the season Sunday, a 7-0 exhibition win. CSU will host its first home game Friday against University of Colorado.

Cody Miles, football

2010 graduate of Soroco High School, redshirt junior at Fort Lewis College

In a 35-3 loss to No. 5 CSU-Pueblo, Miles recorded two tackles. The Skyhawks dropped to 2-3 on the season with the loss.

Colleen King, volleyball

2010 graduate of Steamboat Springs High School, senior at University of Denver

King guided the Pioneers to back-to-back sweeps of South Dakota State on Friday and North Dakota State on Saturday. She paced Denver with a combined 18 kills and 22 points throughout the two wins, including a game-high 13 kills in the win against South Dakota State.

Courtney Garth, soccer

2010 graduate of Steamboat Springs High School, senior at Lake Forest (Ill.) College

Garth and the Foresters snagged a Saturday win at Ripon, 5-3. Garth, a defender, played but did not record any stats in Lake Forest College’s win.

Shelby Struble, soccer

2011 graduate of Steamboat Springs High School, junior at Milwaukee School of Engineering

Struble and the Raiders started last week with a double-overtime 2-1 win against Augustana (Ill.). The Raiders followed up with a 6-1 Saturday win over Wisconsin Lutheran. Struble started both games, and recorded a shot on Saturday.

Maggie Stanford, volleyball

2012 graduate of Steamboat Springs High School, sophomore at Sewanee: The University of the South

Stanford helped guide the Tigers to a 3-2 close win against Hendrix on Saturday with seven kills. She followed it up with another seven-kill performance and recorded one block stuffed in a 3-1 win against Rhodes. She played in all nine sets during the weekend.

Meghan Lukens, Corinne Landy and Kate Verploeg, ice hockey

2011 graduates of Steamboat Springs High School, sophomores at the University of Colorado

The Steamboat trio will open the season with ACHA play on the road Friday as they take on the Colorado State University Rams.

Christi Valicenti, tennis

2012 graduate of Steamboat Springs High School, sophomore at Lake Forest University

On Friday, Valicenti took the No. 2 singles match with a 6-4, 6-3 win against Knox. No result was available for Valicenti’s doubles match, but the Foresters easily handled Knox as a team, 8-0.
