Steamboat Springs The Rotary Club of Steamboat Springs has announced it is accepting applications for its latest round of grant funding. Each year, the local service organization awards about $10,000 in grants to nonprofits.
“We are focused on seniors and youths and are looking for organizations that have a larger impact,” Rotary grants committee Chairwoman Jane Toothaker said.
The club has established several areas of focus that guide its grant-making decisions. Some of these guidelines include:
• Activity that improves the quality of life in Steamboat Springs and Routt County.
• Activity that primarily serves seniors and youths.
• Grant funds must be used for specific activities not operational purposes.
• Grants will support distinctive, one-time activities and should not be depended upon for multiple years.
Grants will not be awarded retroactively after an activity is held, and organizations should not apply for funds to support the same project that was funded previously. According to grant guidelines, activities that impact larger numbers of local residents will be favored when the committee awards grants, and all grant requests will be considered based on funds available.
A grants committee will review all applications and then award grants of less than $1,000 to worthy nonprofit groups. When awards are announced, grantees are invited to attend a Rotary lunch meeting to receive their grant funds.
Applications and a complete set of grant submission guidelines can be accessed through the club’s website.
Completed applications should be returned to Toothaker at firstname.lastname@example.org by the Dec. 15 deadline.
The club’s second round of grants will be awarded in March.
