Police, fire and ambulance calls

1:45 a.m. Steamboat Springs Police Department officers were called to a report of a car that had been parked for a long time at a business in the first block of Anglers Drive.

2:33 a.m. Officers were called to a report of a bear that had locked itself inside a Subaru hatchback in the 2900 block of Ridge Road. The owner discovered the bear because the bear kept hitting the car’s horn. Officers opened the car doors and let the bear out. The bear caused extensive damage to the car by chewing on the interior and clawing down the ceiling.

2:54 a.m. Routt County Sheriff’s Office deputies and Oak Creek Fire Protection District firefighters were called to a report of a suicide attempt with multiple victims in Stagecoach. A 9-year-old boy was shot multiple times and died at the scene. His mother is suspected of shooting the boy. She shot herself and was flown to a hospital in Denver.

3:50 a.m. Steamboat Springs Fire Rescue firefighters were called to help a person having difficulty breathing in the 300 block of Pine Street.

7:37 a.m. Officers were called to a report of a child’s bike found in a driveway in the 300 block of Pine Street.

8:21 a.m. Officers were called to a report of a person in the 2700 block of Laurel Lane whose credit card was used fraudulently to make a purchase online.

9:35 a.m. Officers were called to a report of a bike found at a hotel in the 2300 block of Mount Werner Circle.

9:37 a.m. Officers were called to a report of fraud in the 1600 block of Thistlebrook Lane. A residence fraudulently was listed for rent on Craigslist.

10:49 a.m. Officers were called to a report of a car damaged at a parking lot in the 1800 block of Central Park Drive.

10:55 a.m. Officers were called to a report of a $900 camera stolen from the 200 block of Storm Meadows Drive.

11:04 a.m. Officers were called to a report of property found at a hotel in the 1100 block of Lincoln Avenue. A woman who stayed at the hotel in February had left her belongings, including her ex-husband’s cremated remains. Police were going to mail the ex-husband’s remains to his brother.

12:42 p.m. Officers were called to a report of a person who saw a teenaged cyclist get hit by a car at Lincoln Avenue and Old Fish Creek Falls Road. The cyclist reportedly was on the ground and holding his or her stomach. No one was there when emergency responders arrived.

1:31 p.m. Officers were called to a report of a $200 GPS unit stolen from a car in the 3400 block of Sunburst Court.

5:39 p.m. Officers were called to a report of a car that almost hit a Colorado State Patrol car that was stopped in the 2000 block of Curve Plaza during a traffic stop. The driver was found and given a warning.

6:03 p.m. Officers were called to a report of a iPhone stolen in the 1300 block of Dream Island Plaza.

7:08 p.m. Officers were called to check on the welfare of a drunken person near Shadow Run Frontage. The person was not drunk and was fine.

7:44 p.m. Officers were called to a report of a man who thought his car had been stolen in the 1800 block of Central Park Drive. The car was not stolen. Police had the car towed the previous night after the man was arrested on suspicion of DUI.

10:36 p.m. Officers were called to a report of a noninjury crash in the 2900 block of Columbine Drive. A 27-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of false reporting, unsafe backing and DUI.
