One-Day Closure for Fish Creek Falls Recreation Area this Wednesday

(STEAMBOAT SPRINGS, Colo.) May 28, 2013 – Fish Creek Falls Recreation Area will be closed Wednesday, May 29, for hazard tree removal and other spring maintenance.

The closure is necessary so that sawyers from the Hahns Peak-Bears Ears Ranger District (HPBE) can spread out, be efficient and get the trees cut in one day. Both the picnic area and trailhead will be closed, and the public should avoid using the area entirely.

Closure of the area is a short-term inconvenience that is necessary for long-term public safety, and the U.S. Forest Service appreciates the patience of anyone affected by the work.

It is anticipated that the area, a popular destination on of the Routt National Forest, will reopen Thursday and in time for the weekend.

Visitors to the Steamboat Springs area are encouraged to get up to date information from the HPBE Ranger District by calling (970) 870-2299 or by stopping by the District Office at 925 Weiss Dr. in Steamboat Springs between normal office hours of 8 a.m. and 5 p.m., Monday through Friday.
