Cyclist who died on Emerald Mountain was local physical therapist

— Routt County Coroner Rob Ryg identified the man who died Saturday while mountain biking on Emerald Mountain as Jeff Scheidt, a physical therapist at Yampa Valley Medical Center.

Ryg said Scheidt, 51, is survived by his wife, Tracy Parcheta, and his 12-year-old daughter.

Ryg said an autopsy confirmed Sunday that Scheidt died of a heart attack while he was mountain biking on the backside of Emerald Mountain.

Emergency crews responded but were unable to revive Scheidt.
