Steamboat Springs man possibly died from heart attack while mountain biking

— A 51-year-old Steamboat Springs man died of an apparent heart attack while mountain biking Saturday on the backside of Emerald Mountain.

Routt County Undersheriff Ray Birch said the man died about eight-tenths of a mile up from Cow Creek Road, otherwise known as Routt County Road 45.

Emergency crews responded but were unable to revive the man.

Routt County Coroner Rob Ryg did not want to identify the man because he was not sure whether the man's daughter had been notified.

The man is scheduled for an autopsy Sunday.
