Theo Dexter: Cartoon poor taste

The editorial cartoon on page 9 of Friday’s Steamboat Today is in extremely poor taste. To capitalize on the crimes perpetrated upon the three women and the child who were held captive in Cleveland for the sake of political commentary is beneath contempt. You should be ashamed. The cartoonist owes these women and the child an apology. The Steamboat Today newspaper should choose the cartoons it purchases more wisely. Please feel free to forward my comments to cartoonist John Darkow as a lesson that such insensitivity is in no way funny or entertaining to humans of any political bent.

Way to completely miss the point of the cartoon – which attempts to draw attention to Americans being held all over the world, and entitled to some of the attention lavished upon the unfortunate women in Ohio. Kenneth Bae, for example, presently doing 15 years hard labor in North Korea because the whackos there don't like him. Alan Gross, in the early stages of a 15 year Cuban prison term for selling cell phones to Cuban Jews. Saeed Abedini, imprisoned in Iran for his Christian evangelism there.

With all due respect, Mr. Dexter - call your mommy and have a good cry.
