■ Third Street and Lincoln Avenue: Work will begin Monday on road improvements associated with the opening of Natural Grocers by Vitamin Cottage. As part of the project, a signal pole will be replaced, a lane will be added on the Natural Grocers side of the intersection and the area will be restriped, according to a news release.
Traffic delays, lane closures and pedestrian detours should be expected during the work, which should be complete by the beginning of June.

■ 12th Street and Bob Adams Drive: 12th Street will be closed to through traffic at the Bob Adams Drive on Tuesday and Wednesday to install a new water main across the road. Carnival fundraiser to be held May 30 to June 2
The Spring into Summer Carnival fundraiser for Steamboat Springs Middle School is May 30 to June 2 in Meadows Parking Lot. Tickets are on sale at the elementary and middle schools’ offices and All That Jazz. The cost is $20 in advance or $30 at the carnival for unlimited rides. Entry to the carnival is free, and single tokens are $1 each for rides taking three to five tokens.
Emerald City Opera offers classes through college
■ An opera appreciation class is from July 29 to Aug. 2. The class called “What’s Opera Doc?” will be led by Emerald City Opera founder and Artistic Director Keri Rusthoi. The cost is $50.
■ An artistic creative recovery class is from 6 to 8 p.m. Mondays from May 13 to Aug. 15. The class covers the book “The Artist’s Way: A Spiritual Path to Higher Creativity” will be led by Rusthoi and is designed to help people gain self-confidence in harnessing their creative talents. The cost is $45.

Soroco FFA Organization to host greenhouse plant sale
The Soroco High School National FFA Organization chapter is hosting a greenhouse plant sale in the agriculture classroom at the high school, 305 Grant Ave., Oak Creek. Mothers who shop Saturday get a free dianthus. The sale also is open from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. May 18 or by appointment from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. on weekdays. Volunteers are needed for upcoming ReTree events
Upcoming ReTree Steamboat planing events:
■ Wednesday: Volunteers are needed to help plant lilacs around field in front of Steamboat Springs High School from 8:30 to 11:30 a.m.
■ May 22: Volunteers are needed to help plant native trees and install watering systems from 8:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Stagecoach State Park.
■ June 9: Volunteers are needed to help plant more than 1,000 trees from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Steamboat Ski Area. This is the main ReTree event.
Work includes digging, planting, watering and mulching the new trees. Volunteers should wear pants and closed-toe shoes and bring a water bottle. Water and snacks will be provided. Bring tools if you have them.
Volunteers from all the events are welcome to attend a barbecue at the base area following planting June 9.
