The Associated Governments of Northwest Colorado has awarded several grants to Routt County communities, including Steamboat Springs, Oak Creek and Yampa, according to a news release.
■ Steamboat received $5,000, which will be used to fund marketing and cross-marketing displays to promote the city’s recreational facilities, including the baseball fields, Brent Romick Rodeo Arena, Howelsen Ski Area and Howelsen Ice Arena.
“This is a very positive first step in partnering with AGNC to attract DOLA funding for our community’s economic development,” Sonja Macys said in the release. Macys serves on the Associated Governments of Northwest Colorado board and the Steamboat Springs City Council.
■ Oak Creek received $5,000, which will be used to fund the completion of the Capital Improvement Plan, which will guide the town’s infrastructure and capital improvements.
■ Yampa received $2,500, which will be used to design and implement a website for the town. Town officials said the project will help the town stay competitive in vying for outside business as well as benefit residents by presenting information online, according to the release.
The grants are funded through the Department of Local Affairs.
