Darcy Hornstein, a 2009 graduate of Steamboat Springs High School, is scheduled to graduate from Minot State University in North Dakota on Friday with a Bachelor of Science in nursing.

Steamboat grad Wesley Williams on dean’s list

Wesley Williams, a 2012 graduate of Steamboat Springs High School, was named to the dean’s list at California Polytechnic for the winter quarter. The dean’s list recognizes full-time students who maintain a GPA of 3.5 or higher. Williams studies mechanical engineering.

Nominations for Locals section are due Monday

Nominations for Locals, an annual section celebrating your favorite Routt County personalities, are due Monday. If you’d like to nominate someone, please send your name and contact information, the nominee’s name and contact information as well as your reason for the nomination to Magazine Editor Eugene Buchanan at ebuchanan@SteamboatToday.com. The Locals section will publish July 1 in the Steamboat Living magazine.

Egeria Park Roping Club accepting memberships

The Egeria Park Roping Club is accepting memberships for the upcoming season. Roping and nonroping memberships are available to individuals or families. The group ropes and rides in an arena between Yampa and Toponas on Colorado Highway 131. For more information, call Sam at 970-638-4270.

Girls on the Run to hold coach training session

Girls on the Run of Western Colorado will hold a training session for new coaches from 11:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. May 18 at Soda Creek Elementary School. Those interested do not need coaching experience but must commit a few hours per week. Register by emailing Cheryl Krumrie at routtgotr@gmail.com.

4-H to hold ranch rodeo May 27; entries accepted

4-H will hold a ranch rodeo at 10 a.m. May 27 at Egeria Roping Park near Toponas. The rodeo features events including team penning, head/heal steer doctoring and a calf and sheep scramble. Teams of as many as four must include at least one youth age 16 or younger and a female. The cost is $25 per person and benefits the 4-H Scholarship Foundation.
