2011 graduate of Steamboat Springs High School, freshman at Paradise Community College

Capistron has thrown 40 innings on the mound this spring with an ERA of 2.48. He’s also 3-1 on the season and has struck out 24. He’s tied for the fourth most innings on the team and has the third-lowest ERA. The Pumas wrapped up their season this past weekend.

Ben Williams, baseball

2011 graduate of Hayden High School, sophomore at Trinidad State Junior College

Williams had a banner year. He has pitched in 14 games, including 13 starts. His 84.1 innings lead the team, and he sports a 2.77 ERA. Trinidad State was ousted in the regional tournament this past weekend.

2008 graduate of Hayden High School, senior at Colorado School of Mines

The senior catcher and three-year, full-time starter hit .336 this year and led the Orediggers in home runs (3) and RBIs (28). He also led the team in on-base percentage at .445. The team opens Wednesday in the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference tournament.

2012 graduate of Steamboat Springs High School, freshman at Lake Forest College

As a freshman playing No. 2 singles and No. 1 doubles, Valicenti broke the school record for most victories in a season with 42. She also participated in the National Handball Tournament and helped Lake Forest to the national championship.

Jasper Gantick, lacrosse

2009 graduate of Steamboat Springs High School, junior at University of Tampa

Gantick was named to the second team of the Deep South Conference in helping Tampa to its second-straight Deep South Conference tournament regular season title. But two season-ending losses extinguished any chance of a playoff run.
