Alpine Lumber in Steamboat Springs broken into; extent of theft not yet determined

— Alpine Lumber in Steamboat Springs was broken into sometime between Sunday evening and Monday morning, store manager Skip Dierdorff said Monday.

Dierdorff said the break-in was discovered Monday morning and reported to Steamboat Springs police. Employees were still taking inventory and trying to determine the extent of the theft Monday afternoon, according to Dierdorff. He estimated the theft at several thousand dollars.

Sgt. Jeff Wilson acknowledged police were investigating the incident, but no additional information was available Monday afternoon.
