Editor's note: The amount the city loaned SmartWool for the remodel has been corrected below.

SmartWool on Thursday showed off its newly remodeled and expanded headquarters based out of what used to be the terminal building at the Steamboat Springs Airport.

SmartWool President Mark Satkiewicz said the expansion and remodel will allow the company to continue growing with space for at least 100 employees. Company officials also said the space is a reflection of the company's culture, which encourages healthy, active outdoor lifestyles.

Steamboat Springs city officials called the project a good example of how economic development can be deployed in Steamboat. The city loaned SmartWool $450,000 renovate the building, and the company will repay the loan with a 3.5 percent interest rate throughout the course of the lease, which goes through 2022. The total cost of the project was more than $2 million.
