Steamboat Springs The town of Hayden may stop allowing residents to dispose of scrap wood during Hayden Clean-Up Day, which this year is May 4.
The Hayden Town Council will meet Thursday to discuss that and other issues. The council will convene at 7 p.m. at Hayden Town Hall for staff and council member reports. The regular meeting begins at 7:30 p.m.
Due to health regulations, it has proven difficult for the town to simply burn the scrap wood dropped off by residents. There also is concern that items in the scrap wood could be hard on the town's equipment and their tires as the piles are moved around. An alternative is for the town or residents to bring the wood to the Milner Landfill.
The council also will discuss installing a new system for selling and dispensing water in bulk for customers such as Shell Oil. The town expects Shell Oil will help pay for the new $23,558.46 system, which is similar to the one used in Craig.
Customers would have access to the system any time, and it would accept credit cards or pre-paid cards. The council will discuss how to charge for bulk water purchases with the new system.
