Steamboat briefs: Free mulch from recycled trees now is available

Free mulch made from recycled Christmas trees is available on a first-come, first-served basis at the Howelsen Ice Arena parking lot in downtown Steamboat. The mulch is intended only for residents and homeowners, not for contractors or commercial operations. The mulch is made available by the city of Steamboat Springs. Yampa Valley Singers to hold concert April 12, 13

Yampa Valley Singers’ spring concert, “A Dream of Peace” is at 7 p.m. April 12 and at 4 p.m. April 13 at United Methodist Church of Steamboat Springs. The choral performance will feature a blend of contemporary and traditional music of contemplation and celebration. Tickets are $10 and are available from Yampa Valley Singers members and at All That Jazz. For more information, call 970-879-2641.

Free screenings provided through Horizons group

Horizons Specialized Services provides free screenings for children. If you’re a parent and are concerned about your child’s development, call Kathy Northcutt at 970-871-8558. The screenings can answer questions such as “Should he be walking by now?” “How many words should she be saying?” and “Is her hearing and vision what it should be?”
