The result was only marginally better the second time around, but Steamboat Springs High School girls lacrosse coach Betsy Frick said she saw development in her team during a Monday night loss at Aspen.
The Sailors, 1-3, opened their season with a 15-6 loss to the squad, and fell 12-6 on Monday.
“We’re still seeing progress,” she said. “We did a better job of shutting down some of their shooters. They didn’t get as many shots on goal.”
Steamboat got a pair of goals from Aliegh Aurin and Nikki Fry. Jessie Wallace and Emily Spiess each scored once.
Frick also said the team got a good game from goalie McKenzie Repollo, who had seven saves.
The team next plays Thursday at Eagle Valley, a game the Sailors have their eye on.
“We should have a really good chance in that one,” Frick said.
