— The Steamboat Springs Winter Sports Club freestyle ski team picked up multiple top results during the weekend at events in Vail and Copper Mountain.

At Vail, Payton McElhiney led the way finishing first in the boys 13 to 15 age group after battling snowy conditions in the half-pipe. McElhiney didn’t put down his normal run because of the slow conditions but still had enough to get the win.

Ethan Dyer was seventh.

In a slope-style event at Copper, conditions continued to be tough.

Sammy Schuiling led the way for Steamboat, finishing third in the boys 10 to 12 age group. Kai Doyle was fourth, and Mac Skov was 13th. In the boys 13 to 15 division, Dyer had another solid performance, finishing fifth. McElhiney was eighth. In the girls 16 to 18 division, Ali Pougiales was second in her first run of the season.

“Everyone kept it positive, skied well and had a blast,” coach Joe Love said.
