1:28 a.m., 3:16 a.m., 3:25 a.m., 9:57 p.m. -- Turn it down, be quiet, you've been warned... what is this, some dang PARTY TOWN?? First you make pot legal, then everybody's playing their music too loud... THAT was an unintended consequence. With booze, they'd be passed out.

3:37 p.m. -- The mirror was "ripped" off -- not knocked, or torn, or struck -- evoking a vivid mental image of wanton mass destruction -- can we call that "artistic license"?

I would LOVE to write this column. You can't make this stuff up, but you can certainly embellish it. Beats the local trivia by a mile.

Troy only watched a few dead-center pitches fly by last night, while he managed to hit a couple, and his defense is stellar, so I'm off his case for the moment. Go Rocks!!

Since they keep adding _ Town USA to everything let's advertise Steamboat as Party Town USA while we are at it. Even Bear Town USA and so on.

Walt -- While I'm sure the Chamber will take any free marketing they can get, those distinctions are earned, not bought or claimed.

Aspen would be SKI TOWN USA -- they have four ski hills, three of them great -- and can host ALL World Cup events, even the Men's Downhill, which Steamboat cannot... how can you call yourself World Class when...

Crested Butte would (arguably) be BIKE TOWN USA being where fat-tire clunkers were born and evolved...

(funny how those two towns are a stone's throw apart, if your name is Elway)

Some place in Alaska would have to be BEAR TOWN USA not where they just have play bears like we do...

I can think of several which would claim PARTY TOWN USA...

How about FRIVOLOUS 911 CALLS USA???

Rhys How about this Colvin kid! Two 2 run homers in his first major league game! You can not start much better than that! I read wrong. He has been in the Bigs before but this was his first game since coming up from Colorado Springs. Still quite a start!

Jerry -- Yeah the kid can hit -- those homers more than made up for the liner he initially misjudged, leading to the other guys' 2 runs -- he snagged a couple others, on the run, so he's not a total slouch... problem is, he replaces Cuddy, now on the DL, my new Rockies batting hero (my coach's style) now if we could just put two guys in right field...

So the defense is pretty solid, second base the only question (assuming Todd is on first) and the pitching is credible, good starters and a great pen -- bringing us back to my pet peeve: Offense.

Pick your pitch -- work the pitcher -- make him throw strikes -- run up his count -- only go so far. Sooner or later somebody needs to swing a bat. I was surprised to learn Cargo has a 25% strikeout rate, while Tulo is around 12%(?) but Cargo is swinging at balls, while Tulo watches strikes sail by -- too many others as well.

The Blake Street Bombers they ain't.

Loved to watch Cuddy when he was with my Twinkies. Thought they screwed up when they let him go to the Rockies. He has a heck of an arm too. You think Tulo watches a lot of strikes go by. Joe Mauer for the Twins used to drive me crazy. Most pitchers throw him a strike on the first pitch cuz they know he will take it. Yet he still hits .300 plus every year but doesn't hit for power.
