The media in Steamboat is doing such a good job of presenting the town as a bike-riding Mecca that some bikers are under the impression that all the trails are for bicycles only. Friends and I have been informed by bikers that walkers do not belong on the Core Trail and the lower, flatter part of the Spring Creek Trail. We have been told that we are in the way and keeping them from riding at top speed on these trails.
It’s time to get the word out that while there are some trails for bicycles only, there are other trails that are meant to be shared, and walkers have as much right to be there as bikers.
Just as bicycle riders want vehicle drivers to respect them on the roads, so do walkers want bikers to respect them on the trails.
