— The Steamboat Springs School Board is accepting applications for a new board member to replace Jim Kissane, who recently had to resign because he moved out of the district for which he was elected.

Kissane's seat is open to residents in District 2, which covers most of the southern part of the school district with the exception of the Tree Haus neighborhood.

Residents who reside in voting precincts 18, 7 and 6 (excluding Tree Haus) are eligible to apply for the seat.

The School Board plans to accept applications for the seat until Aug. 30.

Potential board members can download an application at the school district's website at www.sssd.k12.co.us.

Applicants also can call the district office at 970-879-1530 to learn whether they are eligible to run for the seat.
