— Steamboat Springs School District Superintendent Brad Meeks recently was appointed to the governing board of The School Superintendents Association.

"It is an honor to represent Colorado as a member of the AASA Governing Board as we continue to work collaboratively as superintendents with our elected officials at the local, state and federal levels to improve the quality of education for our future generations of learners," Meeks said in a news release.

Meeks, who just finished his second school year as superintendent in Steamboat, said he was one of 19 new governing board members sworn in from across the nation.

The AASA said it installed its officers for the coming school year at a ceremony and reception in Arlington, Va.

Meeks will serve a three-year term on the board.
