Columbine makes most of chances against Steamboat hockey

Columbine scored with its first shot of the game, then didn’t let up, ending up with a 6-1 victory against the Steamboat Springs High School hockey team on Saturday night.

The score was lopsided in the end, but all of the stats certainly weren’t and that adds to Steamboat’s frustrations. The Sailors put 38 shots on goal, compared to Columbine’s 31.

Michael Samuelson scored in the second period, but only after it was already 4-0. Jarret Walt and Bobby Elliott assisted on that play.

Daniel Armstrong, meanwhile, scored five goals for Columbine, including a pair of short-handed goals in the second period.

The loss drops Steamboat to 3-4 on the season.
