— The 2013 Intermountain Tennis Association’s 14-and-younger Sweetheart Circuit Championships wrapped up at the Tennis Center at Steamboat Springs.

The tournament featured 64 of the best 14-and-younger junior players from the six-state Intermountain region.

Madison Gallegos, of Aurora, beat Eliza Hafen, of Farmington, Utah, 6-1, 6-0, to win the girls championship. Kasper Smith, of Boulder, won the boys title defeating Richter Jordaan, of Cherry Hills Village, 6-3, 6-2.

“While this was the first 14s held here, it is the 22nd circuit tournament the Tennis Center has hosted,” tournament director Jim Swiggart said. “We began hosting the Memorial Day 12s in 1994.”

Tatum Burger, Steamboat’s only local competitor, got to the semifinals of the doubles and finals of the west draw.
