Steamboat Springs freestyle skiers shine in Sochi, Russia
Saturday, February 16, 2013
Steamboat Springs Steamboat Springs freestyle moguls skier Eliza Outtrim continued the hot start to her year, finishing second Friday at a World Cup event in Sochi, Russia.
Outtrim finished just behind American Hannah Kearney.
“I couldn't be more pleased with the way I skied,” Outtrim said in an U.S. Ski Team news release. “The conditions weren't exactly ideal, but we were all at the same disadvantage, and so many people skied really well. The venue is absolutely unreal.”
On the men’s side, Steamboat Springs Winter Sports Club member Patrick Deneen paced the American men with a second-place finish. Teammate Jeremy Cota struggled and did not finish.
The event took place at the site where the 2014 Olympic event will happen.
