Steamboat Telemark skier Madi McKinstry 3rd at Junior World Championships in France

Steamboat Springs Steamboat Springs U.S. National Telemark team member Madi McKinstry finished third in the Junior World Championships Sprint Classic on Feb. 9 in Chamonix, France.
McKinstry also was the sixth junior in the classic race and 12th overall. Jeffrey Gay was 18th in the junior division and 34th overall in the sprint classic. Both team members will be competing in the 2013 U.S. National Telemark Championships from Feb. 22 to 24 in Steamboat Springs.
They will be joined by teammates Zoe Taylor and Charlie Dresen.
The event begins with with two classic races Feb. 22. It also will have a sprint classic and a sprint parallel event. Races will be held at Howelsen Hill and Steamboat Ski Area.
Prior to the event, there will be a training camp Feb. 21 at the Steamboat Springs Winter Sports Club.
