Steamboat Springs Steamboat Springs girls basketball coach John Ameen has suggested the past couple of weeks that his team was turning the corner.
Maybe they are.
Steamboat led wire to wire Friday in Palisade coming up with a 65-55 win.
“They battled last week and the week before,” Ameen said. “They are starting to come together on the floor. We have a lot of options scoring. They are starting to play the way we want them to the whole game.”
Steamboat certainly had good balance Friday.
Hunter Anderson led Steamboat with 15 points, including 10 free throws. Maggie Crouch and Nikki Fry each scored 14, and Mikaila Jegtvig had 10.
Palisade cut the lead to four points in the fourth quarter, but Anderson hit a runner and a 3-pointer to give Steamboat some breathing room. Anderson also hit 7 of 8 free throws down the stretch.
Steamboat (8-8 overall, 4-7 in league) next plays at 1 p.m. Saturday at Delta.
