Steamboat's Ski Mardi Gras kicks off Friday

Steamboat Springs There’s room for more than one carnival in Steamboat Springs.
Side by side with the momentous 100th Winter Carnival, Steamboat Ski Area will be celebrating its annual Ski Mardi Gras weekend with specials and events through Fat Tuesday.
From the traditional parade through the base area to live music, happy hours and a snow sculpture contest, Ski Mardi Gras celebrates the spirit of New Orleans and festive free expression while reveling in the cool mountain air. Here is a schedule of Ski Mardi Gras events:
Friday
3:30 to 6:30 p.m. Sing-along Piano Bar Duo at the Bear River Bar & Grill with Cajun food specials
Saturday
11:30 a.m. Face painting in Gondola Square
1:30 p.m. Parade from Ski Time Square into Gondola Square, with prizes for best costumes. (Meet at The Tugboat Grill & Pub at 1:20 p.m.)
1:30 p.m. to 4 p.m. Beer garden and Cajun crawfish boil with face painters and street performers in Gondola Square
3 p.m. Bud Light Rocks the Boat free concert with Anders Osborne
Monday
3:30 to 6:30 p.m. Sundog plays zydeco music at Bear River Bar & Grill with Cajun food specials
Tuesday
8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Tour the snow sculpture contest entries at each Steamboat Ski Area chairlift
