Steamboat Springs Soroco coach David Bruner wouldn’t dare fault the effort. But the Rams coach conceded that his team has struggled to put together a full game this season.
The latest, a 36-29 loss to Rangely on Saturday, emphasized his point.
The Rams led 13-10 after one quarter and had it tied at 18 at half before struggling in the second half.
“We’ve played 14 games and haven’t had one where we’ve played consistently offensively for four quarters,” he said. “One of these days we’ll be able to do that. We just haven’t put four good quarters together.”
The Rams shot just 4 of 30 from the field in the second half. Still, Soroco trailed by only eight late in the fourth, but missed five straight free throws.
The loss drops the Rams to 9-5 overall.
“I didn’t have them prepared as well I should have,” Bruner said. “Offensively I didn’t have them prepared, as well. Hopefully down the road we'll get them. We have five games left. If we can start to play consistent ball maybe we get another shot out of it.”
