Business briefs: Downtown Steamboat hotel on market for $11.9 million

— The Western Lodge in downtown Steamboat Springs recently was listed for $11.9 million.

Soda Creek flows through the property, and additional lots behind the hotel are included in the listing.

The property is listed by Sharon Pace Ward, of Coldwell Banker, who could not be reached for this article.

Hog Island Boat Works debuts new skiff

Steamboat Springs’ Hog Island Boat Works has designed a 16-foot skiff that’s rated for a 40-horsepower motor, according to a news release.

Similar to Hog Island’s drift boat, the skiff will be “roto-molded out of high density polyethylene,” the release states.

“The roto-molded construction creates a seamless one-piece hull that is very tough, and very quiet, and very easy to maintain,” John St. John, president and founder of Hog Island, said in a release.

Sheraton Steamboat Resort to be featured in international magazine

The Sheraton Steamboat Resort will be featured in an upcoming issue of Leisure & Hospitality International magazine, according to a news release.

The release states that Leisure & Hospitality International is a quarterly publication that reaches more than 100,000 senior-level executive readers.

Business resource event to be held in Silverthorne

The Northwest Colorado Small Business Development Center is hosting a business resources roundtable Sept. 11 in Silverthorne, according to a news release.

A number of resources for small business will gather at the Silverthorne Pavilion. Registration and breakfast is at 8:30 a.m., and presentations start at 9 a.m.

A brief panel on resources and financing small business will start the morning, according to the release. Free business consulting and breakout roundtables with other resources will follow.

The event is free to attend but limited to the first 50 people who sign up.

If more than 50 people register, an afternoon event might be scheduled, according to Lindsey Stapay, of the Northwest Colorado Small Business Development Center. Find registration information at www.highcountryresources.splashthat.com.

According to the release, the Development Center has partnered in this event with Summit Independent Business Alliance, Summit Chamber of Commerce, Breckenridge Resort Chamber, Colorado Mountain College, Northwest Colorado Council of Governments, Small Business Administration, Colorado Workforce, FirstBank and the cities of Frisco, Dillon, Silverthorne and Breckenridge.

Women's Small Business Conference scheduled for October

The fourth annual Women’s Small Business Conference is set for Oct. 17 at the Copper Mountain Resort Conference Center in Frisco, according to a news release.

Roxanne White, Gov. John Hickenlooper’s chief of staff, will be the keynote speaker.

The Colorado Small Business Development Center network hosts the daylong event.

The event is from 7:30 a.m. to 6 p.m. and costs $45 if registering before Oct. 4 and $55 after that point. The cost is $200 to exhibit and includes registration for two. There are scholarships available, according to the release.

"Women currently start businesses at more than twice the rate of their male counterparts but often face additional challenges in securing financing and managing work-life balance," Kelly Manning, Colorado Small Business Development Center state director, said in the release. "By providing women entrepreneurs consulting and resources in financing, marketing, operations and strategic planning, the Colorado Small Business Development Center Network works to increase the success of those women-owned businesses and help the entrepreneurs access a collaborative network of support."
