Comcast outage affects 5,000 Steamboat Springs customers

— About 5,000 Steamboat Springs customers were affected by a Comcast outage that severely limited Internet connectivity and impacted some cable television services.

Spokeswoman Cindy Parsons wrote in an email that the outage resulted from a technical issue, but she did not elaborate.

The outage began Monday evening, and services were not fully restored until about 7 a.m. Tuesday.

“Our technical teams worked diligently through the evening hours to restore the services as quickly as possible,” Parsons said. “We apologize for any inconvenience this may have caused.”

Boy that was some fun!! First I reset every modem, router, and switch in the house -- multiple times -- and the signal kept appearing, briefly... I could pirate 3 neighbors' unsecured wireless, and ping from there, to here, and everywhere -- when WE were up -- but when we went down, EVERYBODY went down. Comcast obviously has a large following hereabouts.

(and I was amused at the dubious "technical issue" explanation, which could range from a bulldozer to fiber mites)(much as we often see one expire from a "medical issue." Like, duh.)

Now, everybody else: At this point the only contributors on this thread are Jerry and myself. Therefore we can hardly be accused of digressing the topic...

That's a hell of an explanation. Sadly, these guys are the only game in town unless I want 1.5 meg service through CenturyLink. GO NUGGETS!
