Police, fire and ambulance calls
8:53 a.m. Steamboat Springs Police Department officers were called to a report of a bear that had gotten into trash in the 2400 block of Val D’Isere Circle.
8:56 a.m. Oak Creek Fire Protection District firefighters were called to a report of a house on fire in the 100 block of West Williams Street. The homeowners initially saw smoke, sparks and small flames coming from the area around their chimney. The home’s second story had extensive structural damage.
12:58 p.m. Routt County Sheriff’s Office deputies were called to a report of a noninjury accident near mile marker 145 on U.S. Highway 40. A semitrailer jackknifed while coming down Rabbit Ears Pass. The highway was closed for about two hours.
1:19 p.m. A person called police because he or she was concerned about a friend who had given someone a ride to Yampa Valley Regional Airport but had not returned. The person was located.
2:39 p.m. Officers were called to a phone found in the 1600 block of Mid Valley Drive.
3:08 p.m. Officers were called to a report of a possible drunken driver in the 35700 block of U.S. 40. The driver could not be found.
4:22 p.m. Officers were called to a report of loud music that had been playing for the past 20 minutes in the 1300 block of Sparta Plaza. A verbal warning was given.
9:46 p.m. Officers helped a driver at Lincoln Avenue and Old Fish Creek Falls Road.
9:55 p.m. Officers were called to a report of what sounded like gunshots in the 1300 block of Sparta Plaza. Nothing suspicious could be found.
