Steamboat Springs girls soccer

6 p.m. Thursday: Steamboat (5-3-2) at Rifle (0-9-0)

6 p.m. Thursday: Steamboat at Glenwood Springs (6-1-0)

Let’s play two? Famed Mr. Cub Ernie Banks was famous for saying it, and it only seems fitting that he was a standout soccer star in high school. Yes, the Steamboat girls soccer team will play two Thursday, splitting teams and sending one to Rifle and one to Glenwood. In an ongoing theme, coach Rob Bohlmann has talked about the depth of the program throughout the year. That certainly will be the case Thursday. The game to watch will be the Glenwood one. The Demons are atop the Western Slope League and have given the Sailors fits in Glenwood in the past. Steamboat almost is assured a spot as a top-two seed in the Eastern Division. But a win would set up the Sailors to earn the No. 1 seed in the division. It won’t be easy on Glenwood’s field, but a win would put Steamboat in a position for the top spot.

Steamboat Springs baseball

11 a.m. and 1 p.m. Saturday: Steamboat (4-7) at Glenwood Springs (2-6)

The spring season isn’t kind to baseball. Steamboat has had games moved, postponed and canceled this season. The team is coming off losing a pair to league-leading Palisade during the weekend. One way to get better would be to sweep a doubleheader this weekend. The team should have a good chance. Steamboat beat Glenwood, 7-1, in the opening game of the season.

Soroco track and field

3 p.m. Friday: Soroco at Fruita

The Rams are the only track team in action this week, traveling to Fruita on Friday. The team has seen several top finishes throughout the season despite battling the spring weather. Josie Rossi and Nic Paxton should be looked to again to be top finishers.
