Steamboat Briefs: Drug Take Back Day slated for April 27 in Routt County

Local law enforcement agencies, nonprofits and Drug Enforcement Administration will host a Drug Take Back Day on April 27.

Bring unused over-the-counter and prescription medications to the following locations: Steamboat Springs Police Department, 840 Yampa Ave. in Steamboat Springs; and Oak Creek Town Hall, 129 Nancy Crawford Blvd. in Oak Creek. Items that cannot be accepted include:

■ Needles and sharps

■ Mercury (thermometers)

■ Oxygen containers

■ Chemotherapy/radioactive substances

■ Pressurized canisters

■ Illicit drugs

The service is free and anonymous.

Chamber’s visitor center to close for interior work

The Steamboat Springs Chamber Resort Association’s visitor center temporarily will be closed for a new interior work.

The tentative closing dates are Monday through May 22.

Steamboat’s After Prom seeks volunteers, donations

Steamboat’s After Prom group is looking for volunteers. After Prom is May 18 and 19.

If interested, visit http://vols.pt/oDix3t to sign up for your preferred volunteer job, whether it is helping with setup, cleanup or working that night at the event.

Donations also are being accepted. If you’d like to donate, make checks out to SSHS After Prom and send them to Denise Pearson at Steamboat Springs High School.

After Prom also is looking for donations for themed gift basket items that can be raffled during After Prom. Gift certificates to local shops, restaurants or for services are preferred.

Medical services offered at Hayden community building

The Solandt Memorial Hospital aims to continually pay tribute to the memory of pioneer physician John Solandt by maintaining, preserving and using the community building in Hayden for health and well-being services that provide for the needs of the community.
