Police, fire and ambulance calls

1:23 a.m. Steamboat Springs Police Department officers responded to a suspicious car in the 600 block of South Lincoln Avenue. No action was required.

5:36 a.m. Officers assisted Routt County Sheriff’s Office deputies and Colorado State Patrol troopers with a noninjury crash at Routt County Roads 14 and 14D. A car drove off the road and called a tow truck. The tow truck driver saw there was damage to the car and called law enforcement. The occupants of the car fled the scene. Officers pulled the car over on Lincoln Avenue. The driver was arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence of drugs, driving under suspension and following too closely. Troopers later issued a summons to another occupant of the car who was thought to be the driver at the time of the accident.

8:21 a.m. Officers were called to a report of an assault at Third and Oak streets. A car had spun out on Fish Creek Falls Road, and another driver stopped to help. The driver of a car trying to pass became angry that the road was being blocked. The passer-by and the driver who stopped to help got into a physical altercation. A summons for harassment was issued to the driver who stopped to help.

12:55 p.m. A man went to police headquarters to report a hit-and-run he witnessed in the 1800 block of Central Park Plaza.

2:33 p.m. Officers were called to a report of a lost camera at the Gondola Transit Center.

2:40 p.m. Officers were called to a report of a disturbance in the 800 block of South Lincoln Avenue. Two people who knew each other were involved in a verbal altercation about $20 one person reportedly owed the other.

3:08 p.m. Officers were called to a report of a suspicious incident in the 700 block of Yampa Street. Damage to a business was thought to be an attempted break-in. It did not look like anything was missing.

4:19 p.m. Officers were called to perform a welfare check in the 400 block of Pitkin Street. They were unable to locate the person.

5:22 p.m. Officers were called to a report of someone skipping out on a gas purchase in the 2000 block of Curve Plaza. An employee told officers the individual is a regular customer, and he does not think it was intentional.

5:37 p.m. Officers were called to a report of two elk on Hilltop Parkway. One reportedly was limping. They were unable to locate the elk.

6:46 p.m. Officers were called to a report of a two-car, noninjury crash in the 1300 block of Dream Island Plaza.

9:06 p.m. Officers were called to a vehicle complaint in the 1300 block of Bob Adams Drive. A car reportedly was doing burnouts in the Colorado Mountain College parking lot. The driver of the car was issued a ticket for careless driving.
