Steamboat Springs Winter Sports Club Nordic ski jumpers wrapped up their season with a strong showing through the weekend at the Canadian National Championships in Whistler, British Columbia, where they grabbed a handful of top finishes in the series of events.

Grant Andrews helped lead the way, winning both the junior men’s ski jumping and then the junior men’s Nordic combined.

Tyler Smith, meanwhile, won the senior men’s Nordic combined, finishing ahead of teammate Ben Berend to take the top two podium spots.

“They both skied really well,” Steamboat coach Todd Wilson said in an email. “Ben jumped well but didn’t have the best race. Tyler struggled on the jump but had a blazing fast cross-country race.”

Berend also finished ninth in jumping a day later on the large hill. Andrews was 15th in that competition.
